Community Facilities

The library offers regular classes and facilities for the local community.

As the library is situated in the grounds of the local school it makes an ideal location for school activities and visits.

Below are just some of the regular activities on offer.  Click the circles to learn more.

Storytime

Storytime for pre-school children is every Tuesday morning from 10am including school holidays.

Bears Reading Adventure

Bears Reading Adventure for Pre school children. Once registered to this scheme at the library these young library members receive a sticker book. On each subsequent visit to the library they can collect a sticker for the book and stamp their registration card.

Summer Reading Challenge

Children aged between four and eleven can participate in the Summer Reading challenge at Bilton and Woodfield Community Library and get awards for completing their target. This challenge is held nationally every year and last year over 200 local children participated at this library.

School Class Visits

We welcome visits from local primary schools and nurseries during the autumn and spring terms. Children learn about what our library has to offer and how to become a library member. They listen to a story and have time to enjoy the wide range of children’s books. We have welcomed 1380 school children on these visits from 9 local schools and nurseries since September 2012.

School Partnerships and Visits

We are happy to go into primary schools to support literacy events and promote the library.

We are currently working with Woodfield Community School to help them promote reading in their school by setting their pupils a reading challenge and providing incentives for them to complete additional reading during the school year.

Further details about the reading challenge can be seen here.

We would be delighted to work with other schools to assist in promoting their reading schemes. Please contact us if you would like to discuss a partnership.

Those interested can read our Information for Schools document.
