Supporting Your Library

Getting Involved

How You Can Support Us

We are always looking for volunteers to do a regular (approx 4 hour) shift to help us cover the opening hours for the library. You work as part of a great team, meet some interesting people and have the satisfaction of directly helping your community.

Even if you cannot help with this front-of-house role there there are many other things that need to be done behind the scenes to help us keep this library open and increase the services it can deliver to the local community.

Please come and talk to us, we’d love to have your help.

Volunteering

We have a team of approximately 60 volunteers who fulfil all the functions required to manage and run the library on a day to day basis. Some working directly with customers in the library, some providing essential administration, organisation and support skills behind the scenes.

Tell us what you can do, we will tell you how you can help keep the community library open, and extend its services to the community

Fundraising

North Yorkshire Library Service provide our book stock and our building but we have to raise the money to pay for utilities, services, and all consumables needed to keep our community library open. Currently this means raising about £8000 a year.

We need volunteers to help promote the library, organise and participate in fund raising events, to ensure that we keep the doors open and increase our services to the community.

Can you run events, help out at events, or produce promotional material?
